American Baptist Women
The American Baptist Women’s (ABW) Ministry is a mission-oriented group of women who provide support for many mission organizations all over the world. Every woman of the church is invited to participate in this important and rewarding ministry.
The ABW is very active and an integral part of the ministry of First Baptist Church. There are currently two ABW circles that meet each month on the second Thursday, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The entire ABW meets the first Tuesday of each month to work on mission projects which include collecting money for the Love Gift program which pays for over and above needs of American Baptist missionaries throughout the world, rolling bandages to be sent to mission hospitals in the Congo, filling and wrapping shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, collecting money for the Weirton Christian Center, filling Salvation Army stockings, collecting and dressing teddy bears for needy children, and filling requests from national and international missionaries. Each year a fund-raising activity, such as a flea-market or bazaar, is held to raise money to support the mission projects.
