Son Glasses Class
The Son Glasses Class is made up of college students, and young singles and couples. We look at current events, biblical theology, and the Christian worldview in order that we may look at our lives and the world around us through the lens of the Gospel. We start every Sunday morning with breakfast and a time of fellowship. If you’re looking to meet the young people in the church, this is the place to be.
New Beginnings Class
The New Beginnings class consists of a cross-section of the membership of the church; couples and singles, middle-aged and seniors. The class session opens with praises and prayer concerns. Over the years we have studied individual books of the Bible as well as selected books by Christian authors. While there is a lesson planned each week, wide-ranging discussions will often send us down unexpected but interesting paths while we attempt to understand God’s will in our lives.
Presently, the class meets at 9:45 a.m. in the church library and is taught by Rev. Don Phares who brings a perspective to the lesson that enriches our understanding of the material covered. Senior Pastor Al Cooper is a member of the class, and he is always willing to contribute his knowledge and experience to enhance our understanding of the lesson. Currently, we are studying 2 Corinthians.
Fellowship Class
The Fellowship class has a long history as a class that meets to explore the gospel, using mostly Sunday School literature from the American Baptist Convention. Teachers for the class come from the group and so the approach is varied, depending on who happens to be teaching that month. No matter who teaches, a lively discussion usually ensues from the group of university professors, school teachers, farmers, housewives, nurses and others with a wide variety of interests, talents and views of what it means to be a Christian and to serve the Lord.
Presently the class is made up of a few middle age singles and a larger number of mentally and physically active older adults. However, we have never limited ourselves to a specific age group and welcome younger people with new ideas.
The group meets in a large room behind the choir loft at the front of the church. The room can be reached through a doorway to the left of the front of the church or by going along a hallway beside the Two’s and Three’s class room in the educational building.
We invite you to come check us out at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings. AND as the name indicates, we enjoy getting together to meet and eat at other times of the week.
